Tour to Egypt at Easter Through Cairo, the Nile and Sharm El Sheikh
Tours Overview
Traverse the full length and breadth of Egypt's greatest experiences this spring with our signature tour to Egypt at Easter — a 12-day programme that moves with confidence and elegance through three entirely distinct worlds, each one extraordinary in its own right, each one made richer by what comes before and after it. This is a journey conceived as a complete narrative — not a series of disconnected stops, but a single, coherent story that begins in Cairo's desert monuments, deepens along the sacred waters of the Nile, and reaches its most languid and luminous chapter on the shores of the Sinai Peninsula. It is, quite simply, the most complete tour to Egypt at Easter that exists.
Cairo opens the programme with the concentrated power of the ancient world — the pyramids of Giza, the cultural labyrinth of the medieval city, and the extraordinary collections of the Grand Egyptian Museum, where five thousand years of pharaonic civilisation are gathered in a single building of overwhelming richness. From Cairo, the journey turns southward to Luxor, where the West Bank's royal tombs and the East Bank's great religious complexes represent the absolute peak of ancient Egyptian achievement, and the Nile cruise begins its measured, beautiful progress through Upper Egypt. The river carries you past Edfu and Kom Ombo — two of the Nile Valley's most compelling temples — to Aswan, where the pink granite islands, the romantic Temple of Philae, and the warm Nubian character of the city provide a moment of genuine serenity before the final, exhilarating transition to Sharm El Sheikh.
The Cairo Nile cruise and Sharm El Sheikh sequence that defines this programme is not arbitrary. It follows Egypt's natural geography and its emotional rhythm — the intensity and grandeur of the monuments giving way to the meditative pace of the river, and the river giving way in turn to the pure, unhurried beauty of the Red Sea coast. Each transition feels earned, and each arrival feels like the beginning of something new. This is what makes our tour to Egypt at Easter not merely a well-organised holiday but a genuinely transformative experience.
Easter is a season of particular resonance for this journey. The spring light falls across the desert monuments with a warmth and clarity that belong entirely to this time of year. The temperatures in Upper Egypt are ideal for exploring open archaeological sites without the intensity of summer. And the Red Sea in spring is at its most inviting — the water warm and brilliantly clear, the coral reefs alive with colour and movement, the beaches long and unhurried. Our tour to Egypt at Easter is timed deliberately to make the most of every one of these conditions.
Throughout the programme, the quality of your experience rests on the same foundations that define every journey we craft: the expertise of your private Egyptologist guide, whose depth of knowledge and storytelling ability transforms ancient stones into living encounters; the standard of your accommodation on land, on the river, and by the sea, each property selected for genuine quality and atmosphere; and the thoughtfulness of the pacing, which ensures that depth and discovery are always balanced with the space and ease that genuine luxury requires. This is the Cairo Nile cruise and Sharm El Sheikh experience at its most refined.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Cairo — a spring evening welcome in the city of a thousand minarets
Your tour to Egypt at Easter opens with a welcome that immediately signals the quality of care that will define the entire twelve days ahead. Upon landing at Cairo International Airport, our professional meet-and-assist representative is waiting inside the terminal to receive you personally, manage every arrival formality on your behalf, and escort you to your private air-conditioned luxury vehicle. There are no queues to navigate alone, no uncertainty about what comes next — just a seamless and unhurried transition from the aircraft to the elegance of your five-star hotel in Cairo.
The city greets you with an energy that is immediately and unmistakably itself — a vast, layered, extraordinary metropolis where ancient minarets rise above Ottoman domes and contemporary towers, where the Nile moves through the heart of it all with quiet, ancient authority, and where the particular warmth of an Egyptian spring evening invites you to settle in and simply be present. This first evening belongs entirely to you — a gentle and pressure-free opening to a tour to Egypt at Easter that has been crafted with the greatest care and the deepest knowledge of what Egypt, at its finest, can offer.
Overnight: Luxury hotel in Cairo
Day 2 - The Giza plateau — the last wonder of the ancient world
The second day of your tour to Egypt at Easter takes you to the site that defines Egypt in the imagination of the world more completely than any other — and then reveals, as it always does, that the imagination has consistently underestimated the reality. After breakfast at your hotel, your private Egyptologist guide accompanies you westward toward the desert edge of Cairo, where the pyramids emerge from the horizon with the kind of quiet, undeniable authority that no photograph has ever fully conveyed.
The Great Pyramid of Khufu — the last surviving member of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — stands at 146 metres, constructed from approximately 2.3 million blocks of limestone assembled with a precision that continues to challenge modern engineers. Your guide brings the full human story of this achievement to life: the organisation of labour, the engineering ingenuity, the theological vision that drove the construction, and the extraordinary civilisational ambition of the culture that produced it. The Pyramid of Khafre, still bearing its original Tura limestone casing at the apex, and the more intimate Pyramid of Menkaure complete an ensemble of concentrated architectural power entirely unlike anything else on earth. The Great Sphinx — carved from a single formation of living bedrock and gazing eastward with its ancient, composed expression — provides a moment of genuine and unhurried contemplation, while your guide illuminates the many layers of myth, restoration, and reinterpretation that have accumulated around it over four and a half thousand years. This is the foundation upon which the entire tour to Egypt at Easter is built — not a rushed photo stop but a morning of real, sustained engagement with the ancient world.

Day 3 - Cairo's cultural depths — the Grand Egyptian Museum, Islamic Cairo and the living bazaar
The third day of your tour to Egypt at Easter turns from the monuments of the desert to the extraordinary cultural layers of the city itself — a day that moves from the grandeur of the world's largest archaeological collection through the architectural legacy of Islamic Cairo to the vivid, aromatic energy of its great medieval market. Your morning begins at the Grand Egyptian Museum, where over 100,000 artefacts spanning the full five thousand years of pharaonic civilisation are gathered in a single building of breathtaking scale and ambition. The treasures of Tutankhamun — the gilded shrines, the ceremonial chariot, the alabaster canopic vessels, and the legendary golden death mask — reveal the extraordinary material and spiritual sophistication of the ancient world with a directness and power that no reproduction can approximate. Your Egyptologist will guide you through the collection with scholarly precision, ensuring you leave not merely dazzled but genuinely enriched.
The afternoon takes you into the heart of medieval Cairo, where the architectural legacy of twelve centuries of Islamic civilisation competes for attention with the energy of contemporary Egyptian urban life. Mosques of extraordinary geometric refinement, ancient caravanserais, Ottoman merchant houses, and the narrow, perfumed lanes of Khan El Khalili — Cairo's great medieval market, where copper lanterns, handwoven textiles, amber perfumes, and the fragrance of freshly ground spices fill every alley — combine to produce an experience of layered cultural depth that is one of the most distinctive highlights of any tour to Egypt at Easter.
Overnight: Luxury hotel in Cairo
Day 4 - Flying south — Luxor arrival and Nile cruise embarkation
On the fourth morning of your tour to Egypt at easter, a domestic flight carries you southward from Cairo to Luxor — and the transformation is immediate and profound. Where Cairo is vast and kinetic, Luxor is composed and luminous, a city that sits atop what was once Thebes, the greatest city in the ancient world, and carries the weight of that legacy in every direction you look. Upon arrival, your private vehicle transfers you directly to the dock where your luxury Nile cruise vessel is waiting — your floating sanctuary for the next four nights, its elegantly appointed cabins, open sun deck, and panoramic river views providing the perfect setting for the days of discovery that lie ahead.
As the vessel departs and the banks of the Nile begin to drift past — lush cultivation giving way to desert escarpment, palm groves reflected in the still water, ancient villages clustering at the river's edge as they have for thousands of years — the particular quality of the Nile's rhythm begins to assert itself. Time moves differently here. The pace of life on the river is ancient and unhurried, and settling into it is one of the most quietly pleasurable experiences of the entire Cairo Nile cruise and Sharm El Sheikh journey.
Overnight: Luxury Nile cruise vessel, Luxor
Day 5 - The west bank of Luxor and progress toward Edfu — the realm of eternity
The fifth day of your tour to Egypt at Easter is devoted to the West Bank of Luxor — the ancient Egyptians' designated realm of the dead, and one of the most archaeologically extraordinary landscapes anywhere on earth. Rising early, you cross the Nile as the morning light turns the limestone cliffs a warm terracotta gold, and begin with the Valley of the Kings — the hidden valley where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were laid to rest in elaborately decorated underground chambers designed to ensure their safe passage through the afterlife. Your Egyptologist guides you through a carefully selected group of the finest tombs open for the season, their walls vivid with painted texts from the Book of the Dead and the Amduat, their colours still extraordinary across three thousand years of time.
The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari rises in three colonnaded terraces against the sheer limestone cliffs — a masterpiece of New Kingdom architecture honouring one of Egypt's most accomplished rulers, a woman who reigned as pharaoh for more than two decades. The Colossi of Memnon, two vast seated statues of Amenhotep III standing over 18 metres tall on the open agricultural plain, bring the morning to a fittingly monumental close. You return to your vessel for lunch as the ship begins its progress southward, the afternoon hours passing in the most pleasurable way imaginable — watching the riverbanks drift past from the sun deck, the Nile's ancient landscape unfolding around you as your Cairo Nile cruise and Sharm El Sheikh adventure deepens with every mile of river covered.
Overnight: Luxury Nile cruise vessel, sailing toward Edfu
Day 6 - Edfu and Kom Ombo — Two temples, Two gods, one unforgettable day
The sixth day of your tour to Egypt at Easter delivers two of the Nile Valley's most compelling sanctuaries in a single day of river-paced discovery. Your morning begins at Edfu, where the Temple of Horus stands as the finest preserved major temple in the entire country — begun in 237 BC and completed over nearly two centuries, its towering 36-metre entrance pylons, intact hypostyle hall, and hieroglyphic inscriptions of exceptional legibility allowing you to experience the full ceremonial world of the ancient temple with a vividness that very few sites can match. Your Egyptologist will walk you through its sacred spaces with the authority of genuine expertise, reading the carvings on the walls and bringing the rituals, the processions, and the theological vision behind them to vivid, immediate life.
Sailing on to Kom Ombo, the unique double temple dedicated simultaneously to Sobek, the crocodile god of fertility and power, and Horus the Elder, the falcon-headed god of kingship, provides a beautifully contrasting experience — its riverside setting, its symmetrical twin sanctuaries, and its remarkable carved reliefs depicting ancient surgical instruments and astronomical knowledge making it one of the most intellectually fascinating stops of the entire tour to egypt at easter. As sunset turns the Nile golden and the evening call to prayer drifts across the water, the setting becomes one of those moments that defines a journey in the memory long after it has ended.
Overnight: Luxury Nile cruise vessel, sailing toward Aswan
Day 7 - Aswan — the Nubian soul of the Nile
On the seventh day of your tour to Egypt at Easter, the river carries you into Aswan — and the change in atmosphere is immediate and deeply welcome. Aswan is Egypt's most serene and beautiful city, its pink granite islands, blue-green Nile waters, and the warm, genuinely unhurried hospitality of its Nubian culture providing a quality of peace and elegance that is entirely its own. The Aswan High Dam — completed in 1970, standing 111 metres tall and stretching 3,830 metres across the river — speaks to the modern chapter of Egypt's relationship with the Nile, while the Unfinished Obelisk, still lying in its ancient granite quarry where it was abandoned four thousand years ago after a crack appeared during cutting, offers an unexpectedly intimate and moving window into the working methods of the ancient craftsmen who shaped this civilisation.
The Temple of Philae, reached by motor boat across the still waters of the reservoir, is dedicated to the goddess Isis and carries a romantic beauty that is simply unlike anywhere else on the entire Cairo Nile cruise and Sharm El Sheikh route — its graceful colonnades and carved sanctuaries rising from the water as the light softens around them. An optional afternoon felucca sail around Elephantine Island, where papyrus and date palms frame Nubian villages painted in ochre, turquoise, and rose, brings the Aswan experience to a close of quiet and lingering beauty.
Overnight: Luxury Nile cruise vessel, Aswan
Day 8 - The Sinai Peninsula — arrival in Sharm El Sheikh
After disembarking from your cruise vessel and enjoying a final breakfast on the river, a flight carries you from Aswan to Sharm El Sheikh — and the transition that follows is one of the most pleasurable single moments of the entire tour to Egypt at Easter. Where the Nile Valley is ancient, layered, and endlessly rich in human meaning, Sharm El Sheikh is brilliantly immediate — a place of rust-coloured Sinai mountains plunging into the impossibly blue water of the Red Sea, of long white beaches, of coral gardens of extraordinary beauty lying just beneath the surface, and of the particular ease and luxury that belong to the world's finest coastal resorts.
Your five-star resort receives you with the kind of welcome that makes the transition from cultural intensity to coastal serenity feel not like an interruption of the journey but its natural and deeply satisfying continuation. The afternoon is entirely your own — the pool, the beach, the warm shallow water, or simply the pleasure of having no agenda whatsoever after a week of extraordinary discovery. This is the Cairo Nile cruise and Sharm El Sheikh experience at its most indulgent.
Overnight: Luxury resort, Sharm El Sheikh
Day 9 - The Red Sea — coral gardens and coastal splendour
The ninth day of your tour to Egypt at Easter belongs entirely to the Red Sea — one of the world's great marine environments, its waters among the clearest, warmest, and most biodiverse on the planet. The coral reef systems offshore from Sharm El Sheikh are home to an astonishing array of formations, tropical fish, rays, and the kind of underwater colour and life that makes snorkelling or diving here a genuinely breathtaking experience. An optional boat excursion carries you out to the finest reef sites, where the transition from the desert heat above water to the cool, luminous silence of the underwater world is one of the most unexpected and memorable contrasts of the entire programme. For those who prefer to remain on the beach, a day of pure coastal luxury — sun, stillness, and the hypnotic rhythm of the Red Sea — provides everything that an Easter holiday should offer at its most restorative.
Overnight: Luxury resort, Sharm El Sheikh
Day 10 - A day of pure freedom on the Sinai shore
The tenth day of your tour to Egypt at Easter is yours entirely — and after nine days of extraordinary discovery, that freedom is itself a form of luxury. Sharm El Sheikh offers a remarkable range of optional experiences for those who seek activity: world-class diving at Ras Mohammed National Park, desert safari adventures by quad bike into the dramatic Sinai interior, glass-bottom boat excursions, deep-sea fishing, or the particular pleasures of a world-class spa. For those whose instinct is to rest — to read on the beach, to swim at leisure, to sit quietly with the view of the mountains meeting the sea — this day offers everything the finest Cairo Nile cruise and Sharm El Sheikh holiday should provide at its most generously unstructured.
Overnight: Luxury resort, Sharm El Sheikh
Day 11 - Return to Cairo — a final evening in the capital
Following a final morning on the shores of the Red Sea, a flight carries you back to Cairo for your last night in Egypt — and this closing return to the capital carries a quality of reflection and completeness that feels entirely right. The journey's three distinct chapters — ancient civilisation, river passage, and coastal escape — now settle in the memory as one coherent and deeply satisfying story, each part of the tour to Egypt at easter enriching the others in retrospect. Cairo receives you for a final evening that is yours to spend as you wish — a return to a neighbourhood that caught your attention earlier in the programme, a farewell dinner with a view of the Nile, or simply the pleasure of a last Egyptian evening in one of the world's great cities.
Overnight: Luxury hotel in Cairo

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book my Egypt tour?
We recommend securing your reservation 3 to 6 months prior to your intended travel date. This is particularly important during Egypt's peak season, which runs from October through April. Booking early not only guarantees availability but also gives our team ample time to craft a truly personalised experience tailored to your preferences.
Do you offer discounted rates for group travel?
Yes, we are pleased to offer preferential rates for groups of 6 or more travellers. As every group has unique requirements, we invite you to contact us directly so that we may prepare a customised quotation suited to your party size, itinerary, and interests.
What is included in the tour price?
Our tour packages are designed to provide a seamless, all-encompassing experience. Inclusions typically cover accommodation, guided excursions, select meals, and all transportation within Egypt. Specific inclusions vary by package, and a full breakdown is provided at the time of booking so you know exactly what to expect.
Is travel insurance required to book with you?
Travel insurance is not a mandatory requirement; however, we strongly advise all clients to obtain comprehensive coverage prior to departure. International travel can bring unforeseen circumstances — from medical emergencies to flight disruptions — and adequate insurance ensures that your journey is protected from the unexpected.
Is Egypt actually safe for tourists in 2026?
Egypt is genuinely safe for travelers, and millions visit each year without incident. Tourist police are a highly visible presence at every major site, resort town, and transport hub. The Egyptian government treats tourism as a national priority — and that protection is real, not just on paper. Common sense applies as it would anywhere: stay aware of your surroundings, avoid unsanctioned political gatherings, and stick to well-traveled areas after dark. The Egyptian people themselves are famously warm and hospitable toward visitors.
Can I get a visa on arrival, or do I need to apply in advance?
Most nationalities — including those from the US, UK, EU, Australia, and Canada — can purchase a single-entry tourist visa on arrival at Cairo International Airport. The cost is USD $25 or the equivalent in Euros, paid in cash only (cards are not accepted at the visa desk). Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your travel date. Alternatively, Egypt's e-Visa portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg) lets 41 nationalities apply online before departure. However, many travelers find it simpler to just buy it at the airport.
Is it safe for women to travel solo in Egypt?
Solo female travel in Egypt is increasingly common, and many women do it comfortably with proper preparation. Dress modestly outside of Red Sea resort areas, be confident in your manner, and don't hesitate to be firm with anyone who is overly persistent. Harassment does occur, particularly in busy tourist markets, but it is usually verbal and easily managed by moving on. Booking tours with reputable operators removes a lot of friction and lets you focus on the experience itself. Many female solo travelers describe Egypt as one of their most memorable journeys.
Can I extend my tourist visa if I want to stay longer?
Yes — a standard tourist visa is valid for 30 days, but extensions are obtainable. Visit the Mogamma building in Cairo's Tahrir Square, or go to the passport offices in Luxor, Alexandria, or Aswan. Extensions allow you to stay for an additional month. Come prepared with your passport, a photo, and a small fee. If you're leaving Egypt and re-entering (for example, via Jordan), you'll need a fresh visa on your return — your original is cancelled at departure.
What currency is used, and how much cash should I carry?
The Egyptian Pound (EGP) is the local currency. Hotels, large restaurants, and most shops in tourist areas accept major credit cards and US dollars or Euros at a reasonable rate. That said, always keep some Egyptian Pounds on hand — local markets, small cafés, taxi drivers, and tips all run on cash. ATMs are widely available at airports, banks, and shopping centers across all major tourist cities, and they dispense Egyptian Pounds directly.
How does tipping work in Egypt, and how much is expected?
Tipping — known locally as "baksheesh" — is a well-established part of Egyptian culture and an important part of service workers' income. At restaurants, 10–15% is standard. For private guides, EGP 100–200 per day is appreciated. Drivers typically receive EGP 50–100 for a full day. At major sites like the Pyramids, you may encounter unofficial "helpers" who offer unsolicited assistance and then expect payment — it's perfectly fine to politely decline any help you didn't ask for.
Is bargaining expected in the markets?
Absolutely — bargaining is part of the experience in Egypt's bazaars and souks. Opening prices at markets like Cairo's Khan el-Khalili are usually two to three times what a seller expects to receive. Approach it with good humor, don't take the first price, and feel free to walk away — that often brings a better offer. Fixed-price shops and mall stores are the exception: what you see is what you pay. The goal is always a fair deal, not a "win," so keep it friendly.
What should I wear while exploring Cairo and Luxor?
Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that covers your shoulders and knees is ideal — both for cultural respect and practical comfort in the heat. Think linen trousers, long cotton skirts, and breathable tops. Men should avoid shorts at historic and religious sites. Flat, closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended when walking around temples and pyramids — the ground is uneven and dusty. Red Sea resort towns like Hurghada and El Gouna are far more relaxed; beach attire is completely normal there.
What are the rules for visiting mosques and religious sites?
Shoes must be removed before entering any mosque — bring a bag to carry them if you prefer not to leave them at the door. Women are asked to cover their hair and wear clothing that covers arms and legs; a large scarf in your day bag solves this easily. Men in shorts may be lent a wrap at the entrance of some mosques. Most mosques are closed to non-Muslim visitors during prayer times, so check in advance for the five daily prayer schedules, especially Friday midday prayers when many sites close temporarily.
Is alcohol available in Egypt?
Yes, alcohol is legal and available — but selectively so. You'll find beer, wine, and spirits at hotels, upscale restaurants, licensed bars, and duty-free shops. Outside of tourist establishments and resort areas, alcohol is rarely sold. Drinking in public streets is not acceptable and is technically prohibited. You may bring up to 2 liters of alcohol into Egypt duty-free. The legal drinking age is 21.
Can I go inside the Great Pyramids of Giza?
Yes — entry to the interior of the Pyramids is possible but limited. Only a fixed number of tickets are released each day and they sell out quickly, especially at peak season. Tickets must be purchased in person at the main entrance; online booking is not available for interior access. Arrive early — ideally before 8 AM. Be aware that the passages inside are narrow, low, and warm. If you're claustrophobic, the experience of the exterior and plateau is every bit as spectacular.
Can I take photos inside the tombs in the Valley of the Kings?
Photography inside the tombs is prohibited — a rule that is actively enforced. Cameras and phones are typically required to be put away before entering. The reason isn't arbitrary: flash photography, even from smartphones, accelerates the deterioration of thousands-of-years-old paint and pigment on tomb walls. Respect the rule. What you can do is photograph everything outside, and the imagery inside is so vivid it will remain in your memory long after the visit.
Is a Nile cruise worth it, and what type should I choose?
A Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan is one of the finest ways to experience Upper Egypt — watching temples emerge from the riverbanks as you sail is genuinely unlike anything else. Classic motor cruises (3–5 nights) are the most common and affordable. For a more intimate, slower experience, a Dahabiya — a traditional wooden sailing vessel accommodating only 8–16 guests — offers unhurried access to small villages and lesser-visited temples. Lake Nasser cruises, sailing south of Aswan toward Abu Simbel, are for the truly adventurous.
When is the best time of year to visit Egypt?
October through April is the golden window — temperatures are comfortable (15–28°C / 60–82°F) and the light is extraordinary. December and January are peak season with the highest hotel rates and crowds. March to May is a sweet spot: warm but not oppressive, with fewer crowds and lower prices. Summer (June–September) is intensely hot in Cairo and Upper Egypt — up to 45°C (113°F) — though the Red Sea resorts remain pleasant due to sea breezes and are significantly cheaper to visit.
