Egypt Easter Holiday Across Cairo, the Nile and Hurghada
Tours Overview
Step beyond the familiar and into five thousand years of living history with our signature Egypt Easter holiday — a 12-day programme that moves through the full
breadth of Egypt's heritage with the kind of depth, elegance, and professional care that transforms a holiday into a genuine life experience. This is not a programme that asks you to choose between the ancient and the beautiful, between cultural immersion and genuine rest. It is designed to give you both — and togive you each one at exactly the right moment in the journey.
The programme opens in Cairo, where the pyramids of Giza, the architectural origins of Saqqara and Memphis, and the extraordinary collections of the Grand Egyptian Museum set the historical stage with a richness and depth that few destinations on earth can match. It then carries you southward along the Nile — the most storied river in the world — through Aswan, with its pink granite islands and the romantic Temple of Philae, northward past the double sanctuaries of Kom Ombo and the perfectly preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu, and into Luxor, where the Valley of the Kings and the great religious complex of Karnak represent the absolute peak of pharaonic achievement. And then, in a transition that is one of the most pleasurable moments of the entire Egypt Easter holiday deal, the journey turns eastward across the desert to the Red Sea coast of Hurghada — where crystal-clear waters, coral gardens of extraordinary beauty, and the unhurried luxury of a world-class beach resort provide the perfect counterpoint to everything that has come before.
Easter is a season of particular meaning for Egypt. The country carries the imprint of three of the world's great religious traditions — the ancient faith of the pharaohs, the Christian heritage of the Coptic church, and the Islamic civilisation that has shaped Egyptian culture for fourteen centuries. Celebrating Easter here, in the ancient Coptic churches of Old Cairo, amid temples dedicated to gods who presided over death and rebirth for three thousand years, and in the spring light of a country that has always understood the sacred dimensions of renewal, is an experience with a resonance that goes far beyond the ordinary holiday. Our Egypt Easter holiday is designed to honour that resonance at every stage.
The quality of your experience throughout this programme rests on the same three pillars that define all of our Egypt Easter holiday deals: the expertise of your private Egyptologist guide, the standard of your accommodation on land, on the river, and by the sea, and the thoughtfulness of the pacing. None of these is an afterthought. Your guide is a scholar and storyteller whose depth of knowledge transforms ancient stones into living encounters. Your hotels, cruise vessel, and Red Sea resort have been selected for genuine quality and atmosphere rather than marketing promises. And the programme has been designed with the understanding that the finest travel experiences leave room for wonder, for quiet, and for the unexpected — not merely for the next scheduled stop.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Cairo — a royal welcome to the city of a thousand minarets
Your Egypt Easter holiday opens with a welcome that immediately establishes the standard of care that will define the entire twelve days ahead. Upon landing at Cairo International Airport, our professional meet-and-assist representative is waiting inside the terminal to receive you personally, manage every arrival formality on your behalf, and escort you to your private air-conditioned luxury vehicle. There are no queues to navigate alone, no uncertainty about what comes next — just a seamless and elegant transition from the aircraft to the comfort of your five-star hotel in Cairo.
The city announces itself on the drive from the airport with the particular energy that belongs to great capitals — a vast, layered, endlessly fascinating metropolis where the call to prayer echoes across Ottoman domes, where ancient minarets rise above contemporary towers, and where the Nile moves through the heart of it all with its quiet, ancient authority. This first evening is entirely your own — a gentle and unhurried opening to an Egypt Easter holiday that has been crafted with the greatest care.
Overnight: Luxury hotel in Cairo
Day 2 - The Giza plateau — standing before the last wonder of the ancient world
The second day of your Egypt Easter holiday takes you to the site that has defined Egypt in the imagination of the world for millennia — and then reveals, as it always does, why even the most vivid imagination falls short of the reality. After breakfast at your hotel, your private Egyptologist guide accompanies you westward to the Giza Plateau, where the three great pyramids emerge from the desert horizon with a quiet, undeniable authority that no photograph has ever fully conveyed.
The Great Pyramid of Khufu — the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World — stands at 146 metres, constructed from approximately 2.3 million blocks of limestone, each averaging 2.5 tonnes, assembled with a precision that continues to challenge modern engineers and inspire genuine awe. Your guide will bring the full human story of this achievement to life — the organisation of labour, the engineering ingenuity, the theological vision behind the construction, and the extraordinary civilisational ambition that made it possible. The Pyramid of Khafre, still bearing its original limestone casing at the apex, and the more intimate Pyramid of Menkaure complete an ensemble unlike anything else on earth. The Great Sphinx — carved from a single outcrop of natural bedrock and gazing eastward with its ancient, composed expression — provides a moment of genuine stillness that sits at the very heart of what makes this Egypt Easter holiday deal so memorable. A gourmet lunch with a view over the plateau marks the midpoint of a day that will anchor everything that follows.
Overnight: Luxury hotel in Cairo
Day 3 - Saqqara and Memphis — the genesis of architecture and the first capital of Egypt
The third day of your Egypt Easter holiday takes you deeper into the origins of Egyptian civilisation, to two sites that together tell the story of how one of humanity's greatest cultures first took shape. Your morning begins at Saqqara, where the Step Pyramid of Djoser — constructed around 2650 BC under the genius of the architect Imhotep — stands as the oldest large-scale stone structure on earth. What makes Saqqara so compelling is not merely its age but the story it embodies: the moment when Egyptian builders made the decisive architectural leap from mud-brick mastabas to soaring stone tiers, forever altering what was conceivable in the built world. Your Egyptologist will illuminate the engineering logic, the cultural vision, and the remarkable human achievement behind this revolutionary structure with a depth and clarity that only a specialist can provide.
From Saqqara, you travel to Memphis — the legendary first capital of unified Egypt, established by the pharaoh Narmer around 3100 BC and the political and cultural heart of the country for much of its early history. The open-air museum at Memphis houses a remarkable collection of colossal statuary, including a magnificent recumbent statue of Ramses II carved from a single block of limestone, that speaks with extraordinary power to the scale of royal ambition in the ancient world. This day of your Egypt Easter holiday provides the historical foundation and intellectual depth that makes everything encountered in the days ahead even more vivid and meaningful.
Overnight: Luxury hotel in Cairo
Day 4 - Cairo's cultural soul — the Grand Egyptian Museum, Coptic Cairo and Khan El Khalili
The fourth day of your Egypt Easter holiday explores Cairo's extraordinary cultural and spiritual layers, moving from the grandeur of the world's largest archaeological museum through the quiet devotion of its oldest Christian quarter to the vivid, aromatic energy of its medieval market. Your morning begins at the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza — a collection of over 100,000 artefacts spanning the full five thousand years of pharaonic civilisation. The treasures of Tutankhamun occupy an entire wing: the gilded shrines, the ceremonial chariot, the alabaster canopic jars, and the legendary golden death mask, each object speaking with extraordinary clarity across three thousand years of time. Your Egyptologist will guide you through the highlights with scholarly precision, ensuring you leave not merely dazzled but genuinely informed.
The afternoon takes you into Old Cairo and the Coptic Quarter — a neighbourhood of profound spiritual resonance, particularly during the Easter season. The Hanging Church, suspended above the twin towers of a Roman-era fortress, is among the oldest Christian churches in the world, its interior rich with icon screens, Coptic crosses, and centuries of quiet devotion. The Church of Abu Serga, built over the crypt where the Holy Family is said to have sheltered during their flight into Egypt, carries a significance that resonates with particular depth on an Egypt Easter holiday. As the evening approaches, your guide leads you into the animated labyrinth of Khan El Khalili — Cairo's great medieval market, where copper lanterns cast warm light over stalls of hand-beaten silverware, amber perfumes, handwoven textiles, and every spice in the eastern Mediterranean tradition. It is the perfect farewell to Cairo before your Egypt Easter holiday deal turns southward to the Nile.
Overnight: Luxury hotel in Cairo
Day 5 - Flying south — Aswan, the High Dam and the Temple of Philae
On the fifth morning of your Egypt Easter holiday, a domestic flight carries you southward from Cairo to Aswan — and the transformation is immediate and complete. Where Cairo is vast and layered, Aswan is serene and luminous, a city of pink granite islands, blue-green Nile waters, and the warm, unhurried hospitality of Nubian culture. Upon landing, you are transferred directly to your five-star Nile cruise vessel — your floating sanctuary for the next four nights — where you settle into your elegantly appointed cabin with panoramic river views.
The afternoon begins at the Aswan High Dam — completed in 1970, standing 111 metres tall and stretching 3,830 metres across the Nile — a feat of modern engineering that permanently and dramatically transformed Egypt's relationship with the river that has sustained it since the beginning of recorded history. From there, a motor boat crossing carries you to Agilkia Island and the magical Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Painstakingly dismantled stone by stone and relocated to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, Philae is one of the most romantically beautiful sites on the entire Egypt Easter holiday — its graceful colonnades and carved sanctuaries reflected in the still water of the reservoir as the evening light deepens and softens around it.
Overnight: Luxury Nile cruise vessel, Aswan
Day 6 - Aswan serenity — Abu Simbel and a sunset felucca on the Nile
The sixth day of your Egypt Easter holiday offers an optional pre-dawn excursion of exceptional drama. Early risers are invited to join a sunrise drive to Abu Simbel, where the twin temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari stand in silent, colossal command above the shores of Lake Nasser. Carved directly into the face of a sandstone cliff over 3,200 years ago and then painstakingly relocated 65 metres uphill by an international UNESCO-led team in the 1960s, these temples are among the most awe-inspiring achievements in all of Egyptian history. The four seated colossi of Ramses II at the entrance — each over 20 metres in height — declare with absolute authority the divine power and earthly dominion of the pharaoh who ordered their creation. Those who prefer a more contemplative morning remain aboard the cruise, taking breakfast on deck as the Nile moves quietly beneath the spring sky.
As the afternoon settles into a golden stillness, a sunset sail aboard a traditional wooden felucca offers one of the most genuinely beautiful and unhurried experiences of the entire Egypt Easter holiday deal — gliding silently across the water as Aswan's granite islands and palm-fringed banks drift past in the fading light, the evening call to prayer carrying softly across the river from the city's minarets.
Overnight: Luxury Nile cruise vessel, Aswan
Day 7 - Kom Ombo and Edfu — riverside temples of extraordinary power
The seventh day of your Egypt Easter holiday carries you northward along the Nile to two of the river valley's most compelling sanctuaries, in a day of sailing and discovery that captures the Nile's most ancient and enduring qualities. Your first stop is Kom Ombo, where a unique double temple honours two deities simultaneously — Sobek, the crocodile god of fertility and power, and Horus the Elder, the falcon-headed god of kingship. The symmetrical twin sanctuaries are a theological curiosity unlike anything else in Egypt, their outer corridors carrying remarkable carved reliefs depicting ancient surgical instruments, astronomical knowledge, and a functioning Nilometer, while a small onsite museum displays actual mummified crocodiles recovered from the temple grounds.
Sailing on to Edfu, you disembark to the Temple of Horus — the finest preserved major temple in Egypt, begun in 237 BC and completed over nearly two centuries, its towering 36-metre entrance pylons and intact inner sanctuaries allowing you to experience the full ceremonial and spiritual life of the ancient temple with a vividness and immediacy that very few sites can match. The river continues northward as the sun sets behind the western escarpment, and dinner is served on deck as the lights of the next bend in the Nile appear ahead — one of the most peaceful and beautiful evenings of this Egypt Easter holiday.
Overnight: Luxury Nile cruise vessel, sailing
Day 8 - The west bank of Luxor — the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's Temple and the Colossi of Memnon
The eighth day of your Egypt Easter holiday reaches its archaeological peak on the West Bank of Luxor — the ancient realm of the dead, where Egypt's most powerful rulers were laid to rest in elaborately decorated underground chambers designed to ensure their safe passage through the afterlife. The Valley of the Kings holds the royal tombs of 62 pharaohs from the New Kingdom, each one a complete artistic and spiritual world of vivid hieroglyphic texts, painted astronomical ceilings, and scenes from the Book of the Dead that have survived in extraordinary condition across three thousand years. Your Egyptologist will guide you through a carefully selected group of the finest tombs open for the season, bringing the theology, the artistry, and the deeply human story of each one to life with genuine scholarly authority.
The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari rises in three colonnaded terraces against the sheer limestone cliffs — a masterpiece of New Kingdom architecture honouring a pharaoh who ruled for more than two decades and whose achievements in building, trade, and statecraft were unmatched in her era. The Colossi of Memnon, two seated statues of Amenhotep III standing over 18 metres tall on the open agricultural plain, bring this extraordinary morning of your Egypt Easter holiday deal to a fittingly monumental and deeply memorable close.
Overnight: Luxury Nile cruise vessel, Luxor
Day 9 - Karnak, Luxor Temple and the journey to Hurghada
The ninth day of your Egypt Easter holiday opens on the East Bank of Luxor with two of Egypt's greatest above-ground monuments before the programme pivots in the most pleasurable way imaginable — eastward across the desert to the shores of the Red Sea. Your morning begins at Karnak Temple Complex, the largest religious structure ever built by human hands, where the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 towering sandstone columns produces a sensation of architectural scale and concentrated human ambition that language consistently struggles to convey. Luxor Temple, positioned gracefully alongside the Nile Corniche, provides a beautifully contrasting close — more intimate, more elegant, and remarkable for the medieval mosque that sits atop its northern wall, a living symbol of Egypt's unbroken civilisational continuity.
Then comes the transition that makes this Egypt Easter holiday deal genuinely unique among comparable programmes — a scenic drive through the dramatic Eastern Desert, where the landscape shifts from the lush Nile Valley to the golden, silent vastness of the desert plateau and then down to the brilliant blue of the Red Sea. Hurghada receives you with the warm, luminous welcome that only the coast can provide.
Overnight: Luxury resort, Hurghada
Day 10 - The Red Sea — coral gardens and coastal serenity
The tenth day of your Egypt Easter holiday is devoted entirely to the extraordinary natural beauty of the Red Sea — one of the world's great marine environments, its waters among the clearest and most biodiverse on earth. The reef systems offshore from Hurghada are home to an astonishing array of coral formations, tropical fish, rays, and the kind of underwater colour and life that makes snorkelling or diving here a genuinely breathtaking experience. An optional boat excursion carries you out to the finest reef sites, where the transition from the desert heat above water to the cool, silent, luminous world beneath it is one of the most unexpected and memorable contrasts of the entire Egypt Easter holiday. Those who prefer to remain on the beach will find everything they need for a day of pure, unhurried coastal luxury — sun, stillness, and the particular pleasure of having thoroughly earned a rest.
Overnight: Luxury resort, Hurghada
Day 11 - A day of pure freedom on the Red Sea
The eleventh day of your Egypt Easter holiday is yours to shape entirely as you wish — and that freedom, after ten days of extraordinary discovery, is itself a kind of luxury. Hurghada offers a remarkable range of optional experiences for those who seek activity: desert safari adventures into the Eastern Desert, deep-sea fishing, glass-bottom boat excursions, world-class spa treatments, or a gentle exploration of the marina and its waterfront restaurants. For those who simply wish to rest — to read, to swim, to sit quietly with a cold drink and the view of the Red Sea — this day delivers everything an Egypt Easter holiday deal should offer at its most restorative and indulgent.
Overnight: Luxury resort, Hurghada
Day 12 - Departure — carrying Egypt home with you
The final day of your Egypt Easter holiday arrives with the unhurried ease that has come to feel characteristic of the entire programme. A short flight carries you from Hurghada back to Cairo for your international connection, and our representative ensures that every element of your departure is managed with the same professional care as your arrival twelve days ago. As your Egypt Easter holiday draws to its close, you leave carrying something that no souvenir can replicate — the memory of the pyramids at dawn, of a painted tomb three thousand years old still radiant with colour and meaning, of the Nile moving silently past ancient temples, and of the Red Sea glittering beneath the spring sun. This is the Egypt Easter holiday deal that delivers it all.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book my Egypt tour?
We recommend securing your reservation 3 to 6 months prior to your intended travel date. This is particularly important during Egypt's peak season, which runs from October through April. Booking early not only guarantees availability but also gives our team ample time to craft a truly personalised experience tailored to your preferences.
Do you offer discounted rates for group travel?
Yes, we are pleased to offer preferential rates for groups of 6 or more travellers. As every group has unique requirements, we invite you to contact us directly so that we may prepare a customised quotation suited to your party size, itinerary, and interests.
What is included in the tour price?
Our tour packages are designed to provide a seamless, all-encompassing experience. Inclusions typically cover accommodation, guided excursions, select meals, and all transportation within Egypt. Specific inclusions vary by package, and a full breakdown is provided at the time of booking so you know exactly what to expect.
Is travel insurance required to book with you?
Travel insurance is not a mandatory requirement; however, we strongly advise all clients to obtain comprehensive coverage prior to departure. International travel can bring unforeseen circumstances — from medical emergencies to flight disruptions — and adequate insurance ensures that your journey is protected from the unexpected.
Is Egypt actually safe for tourists in 2026?
Egypt is genuinely safe for travelers, and millions visit each year without incident. Tourist police are a highly visible presence at every major site, resort town, and transport hub. The Egyptian government treats tourism as a national priority — and that protection is real, not just on paper. Common sense applies as it would anywhere: stay aware of your surroundings, avoid unsanctioned political gatherings, and stick to well-traveled areas after dark. The Egyptian people themselves are famously warm and hospitable toward visitors.
Can I get a visa on arrival, or do I need to apply in advance?
Most nationalities — including those from the US, UK, EU, Australia, and Canada — can purchase a single-entry tourist visa on arrival at Cairo International Airport. The cost is USD $25 or the equivalent in Euros, paid in cash only (cards are not accepted at the visa desk). Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your travel date. Alternatively, Egypt's e-Visa portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg) lets 41 nationalities apply online before departure. However, many travelers find it simpler to just buy it at the airport.
Is it safe for women to travel solo in Egypt?
Solo female travel in Egypt is increasingly common, and many women do it comfortably with proper preparation. Dress modestly outside of Red Sea resort areas, be confident in your manner, and don't hesitate to be firm with anyone who is overly persistent. Harassment does occur, particularly in busy tourist markets, but it is usually verbal and easily managed by moving on. Booking tours with reputable operators removes a lot of friction and lets you focus on the experience itself. Many female solo travelers describe Egypt as one of their most memorable journeys.
Can I extend my tourist visa if I want to stay longer?
Yes — a standard tourist visa is valid for 30 days, but extensions are obtainable. Visit the Mogamma building in Cairo's Tahrir Square, or go to the passport offices in Luxor, Alexandria, or Aswan. Extensions allow you to stay for an additional month. Come prepared with your passport, a photo, and a small fee. If you're leaving Egypt and re-entering (for example, via Jordan), you'll need a fresh visa on your return — your original is cancelled at departure.
What currency is used, and how much cash should I carry?
The Egyptian Pound (EGP) is the local currency. Hotels, large restaurants, and most shops in tourist areas accept major credit cards and US dollars or Euros at a reasonable rate. That said, always keep some Egyptian Pounds on hand — local markets, small cafés, taxi drivers, and tips all run on cash. ATMs are widely available at airports, banks, and shopping centers across all major tourist cities, and they dispense Egyptian Pounds directly.
How does tipping work in Egypt, and how much is expected?
Tipping — known locally as "baksheesh" — is a well-established part of Egyptian culture and an important part of service workers' income. At restaurants, 10–15% is standard. For private guides, EGP 100–200 per day is appreciated. Drivers typically receive EGP 50–100 for a full day. At major sites like the Pyramids, you may encounter unofficial "helpers" who offer unsolicited assistance and then expect payment — it's perfectly fine to politely decline any help you didn't ask for.
Is bargaining expected in the markets?
Absolutely — bargaining is part of the experience in Egypt's bazaars and souks. Opening prices at markets like Cairo's Khan el-Khalili are usually two to three times what a seller expects to receive. Approach it with good humor, don't take the first price, and feel free to walk away — that often brings a better offer. Fixed-price shops and mall stores are the exception: what you see is what you pay. The goal is always a fair deal, not a "win," so keep it friendly.
What should I wear while exploring Cairo and Luxor?
Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that covers your shoulders and knees is ideal — both for cultural respect and practical comfort in the heat. Think linen trousers, long cotton skirts, and breathable tops. Men should avoid shorts at historic and religious sites. Flat, closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended when walking around temples and pyramids — the ground is uneven and dusty. Red Sea resort towns like Hurghada and El Gouna are far more relaxed; beach attire is completely normal there.
What are the rules for visiting mosques and religious sites?
Shoes must be removed before entering any mosque — bring a bag to carry them if you prefer not to leave them at the door. Women are asked to cover their hair and wear clothing that covers arms and legs; a large scarf in your day bag solves this easily. Men in shorts may be lent a wrap at the entrance of some mosques. Most mosques are closed to non-Muslim visitors during prayer times, so check in advance for the five daily prayer schedules, especially Friday midday prayers when many sites close temporarily.
Is alcohol available in Egypt?
Yes, alcohol is legal and available — but selectively so. You'll find beer, wine, and spirits at hotels, upscale restaurants, licensed bars, and duty-free shops. Outside of tourist establishments and resort areas, alcohol is rarely sold. Drinking in public streets is not acceptable and is technically prohibited. You may bring up to 2 liters of alcohol into Egypt duty-free. The legal drinking age is 21.
Can I go inside the Great Pyramids of Giza?
Yes — entry to the interior of the Pyramids is possible but limited. Only a fixed number of tickets are released each day and they sell out quickly, especially at peak season. Tickets must be purchased in person at the main entrance; online booking is not available for interior access. Arrive early — ideally before 8 AM. Be aware that the passages inside are narrow, low, and warm. If you're claustrophobic, the experience of the exterior and plateau is every bit as spectacular.
Can I take photos inside the tombs in the Valley of the Kings?
Photography inside the tombs is prohibited — a rule that is actively enforced. Cameras and phones are typically required to be put away before entering. The reason isn't arbitrary: flash photography, even from smartphones, accelerates the deterioration of thousands-of-years-old paint and pigment on tomb walls. Respect the rule. What you can do is photograph everything outside, and the imagery inside is so vivid it will remain in your memory long after the visit.
Is a Nile cruise worth it, and what type should I choose?
A Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan is one of the finest ways to experience Upper Egypt — watching temples emerge from the riverbanks as you sail is genuinely unlike anything else. Classic motor cruises (3–5 nights) are the most common and affordable. For a more intimate, slower experience, a Dahabiya — a traditional wooden sailing vessel accommodating only 8–16 guests — offers unhurried access to small villages and lesser-visited temples. Lake Nasser cruises, sailing south of Aswan toward Abu Simbel, are for the truly adventurous.
When is the best time of year to visit Egypt?
October through April is the golden window — temperatures are comfortable (15–28°C / 60–82°F) and the light is extraordinary. December and January are peak season with the highest hotel rates and crowds. March to May is a sweet spot: warm but not oppressive, with fewer crowds and lower prices. Summer (June–September) is intensely hot in Cairo and Upper Egypt — up to 45°C (113°F) — though the Red Sea resorts remain pleasant due to sea breezes and are significantly cheaper to visit.
