Mihrimah Sultan Mosque

This mosque was built way back in the year 1557 for the daughter of the Sultan, hence the name Mihrimah Sultan Mosque. It is an attraction due to its interesting construction and exceptionally high dome. This exceptional mosque is one of the less known masterpieces of Sinan.
 
Its interior is simply beautiful with its stained glass that invites the light in. it also seems to have additional air flowing through it which creates a stranger sensation than the other mosques do. The dome floats above the ground that leaves a wide open space beneath for worshippers. People who visit the Mihrimah Sultan Mosque often say that they felt the presence of God while inside the building.
 
Many architectural elements to this mosque is unique to the others. The colors are significant to the feminine person who this mosque was built for. As it is still an active mosque, people should avoid visiting it during prayer times.
 
As it is a holy place, visitors will have to adhere to the dress code. Women will be required to cover their shoulders and if not wearing long trousers or skirts, women can acquire these before entering.
