Development and progress of the Sultanate of Oman turned many villages into wastelands; however, today they are the most attractive touristic sites. Ghost villages have kept the spirit of rural lifestyle as it was centuries ago. Plunge into the past and explore the lofty mountains of Oman.

The tour starts at the former Omani capital Nizwa with its silver market and famous round-towered fort. The next stop is at a beautiful ghost village of Birkat Al Mauz. Have a walk among the ruins of the village abandoned in 1959 and see the ancient aflaj irrigation system, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2006. Proceed then to Jebel Akhdar (the Green Mountain), one of the most fertile areas in Oman. Here you can find large areas covered with walnut, peach, apricot, pomegranate trees, vineyards and plantations of roses used for making rosewater. Explore Diana's Point, a spot in the Saiq Plateau, which the Princess of Wales visited in 1986. Have a short walk in the nearby traditional countryside before heading to yet another deserted village located in Wadi Bani Habib. Walk down the stone steps to reach green narrow gorge and explore the site on your own. The tour by a 4x4 vehicle includes all entrance fees and picnic.
