The word Jebel Means Mountain in Arabic, thus the mountain named Khazali is a rock formation in the Wadi Rum desert where wild goats and other wildlife can be spotted along with sand dunes as far as the eye can see. This massive, isolated rock formation is one thousand four hundred and twenty meters high.
From afar the mountain looks different from every other angle. Even the colors seem to change as the sun shines either on it, or from behind it. One of the reasons Jebel Khazali is important is because of the rock drawings and inscriptions that can be found here.
It also has a narrow fissure in the mountainside that contributes to its natural beauty. It is walking distance from the usual campsites and the mountain itself offers a relatively easy climb to its higher points. Once reaching the top, you see what looks like a plateau of confused jumbles of domes. There are a number of deep slot canyons which creates a challenging navigation.
The desert of Wadi Rum itself is considered one of the most beautiful in the Middle East and having such an isolated natural formation truly adds to the magnificence of this desert area.
