Pyramids Sound & Light Show
If there is one perfect introduction to the Great Pyramids of Giza, it has to be the sound and light spectacular called the Pyramids Sound & Light Show. It is one of the highest selling shows in Egypt with young and old raving about it afterwards.
The show is available in various languages including Spanish and German, although most shows are done in English. It is narrated by the world famous Omar Sherif and lasts about fifty minutes. It gives a completely different view of the immensity of this archaeological area and the mere distance between the Pyramids become evident in the darkness.
The sound engineering and seating was very well designed which enables the entire seated arena to take in the display of lights and experience the surround sound of the narration and music that makes part of the show.
One sits down on comfortable seats in the pitch dark and suddenly laser lights shine upon the Pyramids and Sphinx. A story is told of the young king Tutankamon and the construction of the Pyramids. Due to the show taking place at night, for those who haven’t had a glimpse of the Pyramids, it is quite a mind blowing experience as the area is so dark that one has no idea how close they stand until the laser and lighting shine upon them. People literally catch their breaths when the show starts.
It is commonly explained as one of the top experiences of any Egyptian vacation and the photos that are taken at the show is nothing other than extraordinary. Admission fees are reasonably priced and refreshments are allowed in the open air seating. One will require permission to make use of video cameras. During winter the area becomes extremely cold so do dress warm and take wind proof jackets for the show.
Afterwards, live musicians entertain the crowds while they make their way out of the arena. It truly is a great introduction to Egypt and it is highly recommended to visit this sight on the first night in Cairo.
