The mythical creature with the body of a lion and a human head is adjacent to the pyramids. The Great Sphinx that represents the face of the Pharaoh Khafre is the largest monolith statue in the world. Your next stop will be at Khafre’s Valley Temple built in the late 26th century BC and buried in the sands until the AD 19th century. It was used for mummification of the Pharaoh. The construction of the first Egyptian pyramid was completed in 2648 BC. Overnight at the hotel. (L)
Day 2 (Cairo-Hurghada)
After breakfast you will be taken to the Egyptian Museum. Its 107 halls exhibit some 150,000 artifacts that tell you the history of 5,000 years of ancient civilization. Your guide will escort you to the Citadel of Saladin erected on the Mokattam Hill between 1176 and 1183 and fortified in order to protect it from the Crusaders.
