Day 1 (Hurghada-Cairo)
Lady Egypt representative will meet you at your hotel in Hurghada or El Gouna and transfer to Hurghada International Airport for a domestic flight to Cairo, where your guide will meet you and assist through custom procedures. You will then travel to Giza, where the eternal Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure are located. Explore the mythical creature with the body of a lion and a human head adjacent to the pyramids. The Great Sphinx that represents the face of the Pharaoh Khafre is the largest monolith statue in the world. Your next stop will be at Khafre’s Valley Temple built in the late 26th century BC and buried in the sands until the AD 19th century. It was used for mummification of the Pharaoh. Have your lunch in one of the best restaurants in Cairo and head to the Egyptian Museum. Its 107 halls exhibit some 150,000 artifacts that tell you the history of 5,000 years of ancient civilization. Here you will find the largest collection of pharaonic antiquities, including Tutankhamun’s fabulously famous ten-kilogram golden mask and throne, jewelry and precious metal coins, grand statutes and tiny figurines. Enjoy your time at leisure. In the evening you will be transferred to the Giza Railway Station to take a sleeper train to Luxor. Dine and overnight in the train. (L, D)
Day 2 (Luxor-Hurghada)
Have your breakfast in the train before getting off and meeting your guide at the Luxor Railway Station. Our modern air-conditioned vehicle will comfortably get you to the Karnak Temple Complex, large open-air museum once named Ipet-isut, which means "the most selected of places". Its construction began in the Middle Kingdom (2000-1700 BC), though the majority of the existing buildings date back to the New Kingdom (1500-1000 BC). The complex houses the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 giant columns. You will have lunch at a local restaurant before moving to the Colossi of Memnon, massive twin statues depicting the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who ruled Egypt from 1386 to 1349 BC. Proceed to the Valley of the Kings, which is home to 63 known tombs and chambers; 26 of them are carved for Pharaohs, while others serve as resting place for the royal family members and nobles. Only fifteen tombs are open for public, among them are those granted to Tutankhamun, Thutmose III, Ramesses I and Seti II. Another highlight of this day is the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, located in the Valley of the Queens. This richly decorated temple narrating the story of the divine birth of the first female Pharaoh is dedicated to the Sun God Amun-Re. You can now enjoy your time at leisure and go for some shopping before driving back to Hurghada. (B, L)
