Early in the morning our chauffeur and tour guide will meet you at your hotel in Aswan to drive you to 4,000-year-old Luxor, the greatest open-air museum in the world. First, you will visit the Karnak Temple Complex, a vast area of temples, chapels, pylons and the Great Temple of Amun. The construction of the complex began in the Middle Kingdom (2000-1700 BC), though the majority of the existing buildings date back to the New Kingdom (1500-1000 BC). Here you can see the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 giant columns. You will have lunch in a local restaurant and proceed to the West Bank. Visit the Colossi of Memnon, massive twin statues depicting the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who ruled Egypt from 1386 to 1349 BC. The next stop will be at the Valley of the Kings, where you will visit a number of ancient tombs and move to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut in the Valley of the Queens.
